Tea Party "rally" on Paducah riverfront low key
According to first hand reports, the Paducah, KY Tea Party rally, that was hyped as going to be some huge event that was going to tie up the Paducah riverfront, was low-key, with a respectable but not overwhelming 300 - 400 in attendance. There didn't appear to be a lot of media present. The only press observed was WPSD-TV in Paducah. A Democratic protester had a large sign near the main entrance of the riverfront where the event was held which read, "Give President Obama a Fair Chance." Highlights included Rand Paul blaming the Republicans and the Democrats for the economic mess, and lowlights included a vendor selling "I am a Racist" T shirts.
Another lowlight was an incident where a tourist from Nashville who speaking to the protester and said she was a democrat, was overheard by a man wearing a flag t shirt with a jacket which on the back read "Tyranny Response Leader," screamed at the tourist lady and the protester that they were "communists." The tourist reportedly responded forcefully that she was not a communist, and that she wouldn't be coming back to Paducah.
As polls continue to show democrats moving up, everything points to a republican party which peaked too soon and which, because of the very high expectations that have been created that there will be a blow out in the election in favor of the republicans, may have a lot of explaining to do on election night.
